Marcie Callewaert is a university student and photographer from British Columbia.Living on the wild and rugged west coast of Canada, there are no shortages of inspiration from Marcie Callewaert’s surroundings. By paying close attention to detail, she is able to capture images that few will see simply by walking the same paths.
She strives to showcase landscapes, animals and plants in new dimensions. Unique perspectives and interesting moments are a representation of her outlook on life – trying to see as much as possible before it is gone.
Marcie is a third year student in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. Though teaching is her choosen career, close friends know that it is only a “back-up” plan to her real dream – photographing for such organizations as National Geographic and BBC Earth.
Marcie held her first two gallery showings September 2011. One was at the Oceanside Arts Council in Parksville, BC and the other was at the Oak Bay Marina Coffee Shop. If you are interested in hosting Marcie’s photography in your gallery, coffee shop or other venue, please contact her. Marcie is very flexible in her showing requirements and will happily work with you to figure out the best arrangement.
Marcie is a photographer for the UVic Independant newspaper, The Martlet as well as the online publication, Her Campus UVic. She is responsible for capturing scenes on campus on a weekly basis as well as other photo assignments as necessary. Marcie strives to showcase unique individuals on campus in a variety of situations.
Marcie is also a concert and event photographer for The Zone @ 91.3. Shooting bands such as Bedouin Soundclash is a great opportunity to gain experience and do some networking in the music industry.
Prince of Whales Whale Watching has brought Marcie on as a phtographer for the 2012 season as well. Here she will be going out on Crusier and Zodiac tours, capturing the marine life that is seen on these amazing wildlife experiences!
Marcie proudly supports the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. She upholds their ideals and fully supports their campaigns around the globe. In the future she would like to travel with them to document their efforts to stop the unsustainable and often illegal slaughter of whales around the world. More information on Sea Shepherds efforts can be found at http://www.seashepherd.org/.
The best reaction to a photograph is an emotional one.
